Dick Morris and the Hate-Hillary Republicans (Brent Budowsky)
To understand the full magnitude of the catastrophic landslide that Republicans may suffer and Democrats may not deserve, read the last 50 postings of anti-Hillary operative Dick Morris on The Hill's Pundits Blog.
Most recently Mr. Morris predicted that Hillary will cause a stock market crash. No doubt within weeks he will suggest that Hillary will lead to the destruction of New York from mushroom clouds, that if Hillary is elected the Hale-Bopp comet will return and destroy life on earth, and he'll probably soon assert that Hillary has badbreath and body odor problems.
Now understand, if Hillary is nominated I will support her without the enthusiasm I would summon for the man who should be running, but isn't. But this is no Hillary apology. While a reckless and incompetent president rushes to another unwise war, this time with Iran, Hillary voted for the Lieberman-Kyl resolution, promoted
by those who want this war. Another bad moment, of many, in the recent history of the Democratic Party.
When cultural anthropologists look back on the history of the 2008 campaign, they might focus on the endless, 24/7, non-stop series of Dick Morris's anti-Hillary postings, columns, commentaries, obsessions, compulsions, invective and — in the case of his idea that Hillary will cause a stock market crash — delusions.
Mr. Morris merely embodies the visible symbol of a party that stands for nothing, believes in nothing, is drenched in scandal and failure, has nothing to contribute, no vision, no spirit, no soul and is reduced to nothing more than invective against a political opponent.
No sooner had Fred Thompson anointed himself the new Ronald Reagan than he spoke of the due process rights of Osama bin Laden.
No sooner did John McCain initiate his campaign for 2008 than he rejected his own campaign for 2000, destroying not only his rationale for leading America, destroying what should have been the true great hope for the Republican Party, but adopting Bush 43.5 policies and then Bush 43.5 tactics.
Poor McCain. He is now reduced to tormenting himself about which anti-Hillary invective from his Bush 43.5 courtiers he should parrot, and which anti-Hillary invective violates even his lowered standards of political discourse.
In these debates between the Stepford white men running for the Republican nomination, while they insult and demean black and Hispanic voters, while they insult and boycott their debates, they are reduced to a contest of who can hate Hillary the most.
This is what happens to a party with nothing left to say that is held to the ground, under the iron fist of its most extreme and shrinking right-wing base, unable to communicate with the rest of America and unable to offer any vision or plan to lead America.
The Republicans have become the Hate-Hillary Party, with the Hate-Hillary courtiers, spouting the Hate-Hillary invective, reduced to supporting Bush 43.5 policies, using Bush 43.5 tactics, masterminded by Bush 43.5 courtiers, destined for a Bush 43 outcome.
A mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Mr. Morris is no doubt a brilliant man. Dare I suggest that for every 30 anti-Hillary diatribes, it might be useful to squeeze in at least one teeny weeny epistle about helping wounded troops, disabled vets and homeless heroes who suffer the cruel and unusual punishment from policies imposed by Bush 43.5 and supported by
the Bush 43.5 Stepford candidates?

Brent: How are his alleged anti-Hillary postings any more evil than your constant anti-Bush, socialists meanderings? He bought up a good sound point and it does make sense from a financial point of view. It just makes more sense to pay a capital gains tax at 15% then to wait to get butt slammed by an empty suit who simply wants to turn America into a socialist wasteland. Name one thing Hillary Clinton has accomplished that has not cost the taxpayers money, or, better yet, name one thing she will do once elected that will cost less than one billion dollars. You have the floor.

Robert, the difference is, I have outlined
at great length and very often what Democrats
should stand for, what Democrats should do,
and on the matter of troops and vets, in
voluminous detail. I dont write 80% on the
same topic, and make it a point to repeatedly
emphasize specific and actionable moves that
would help America.
Comment by Brent Budowsky — October 10, 2007 @ 10:30 am
Brent: Don't take this personally, but how does nationalizing industries and raising taxes help America? Nationalizing industries has failed in every country it has been tried in, and raising taxes takes money from the poor and makes them poorer. I don't know what your financial background is but Leona Helmsley was right, the poor do pay all the taxes. If you think Dick Morris is incorrect then tell why people won't sell their stocks. Dick Morris made a reasonable statement and I believe if the polls are close next September you will not only see the equivalent of a stock market panic, but gold will accelerate to new heights as the dollar gets dumped. All these proposed giveaways and proposed takeover of various industries will have a dramatic and negative effect on the economy. In fact, if she is elected and goes through on her proposals we will no longer have an economy. We will all be vassals of the government.
Comment by Robert Rosencrans — October 10, 2007 @ 11:12 am
RR;
The last time a president proposed and raise taxes, the American economy took off on an 7 year run that came to a halt when Bush was selected as president. Also Bush was handed a huge surplus that he and the republican congress squandered. When you start a war, you must pay for it or borrow from another country or pass it off to further generations. Look at the profits that big oil has made over the past few years and look at how our intfrastructure has suffered. Don't you think that those who have prosper from this war should paid for it, should paid to keep our roads, bridges and other structure safe? Look at this way, you can't have bread and bullets without someone paying for it. Why should those who got the big tax breaks not pay?
Comment by Mike Coleman — October 10, 2007 @ 11:46 am
Mike Coleman: There never was a surplus. That's a well rounded lie. Also, if the Clinton economy was so great, why did the stock market crash in 2000? If you want the facts on the lie about the surplus, visit my blog. It has all the facts there and they are irrefutable. The national debt went up over 1.7 trillion while Clinton was president. The two years they claim were in surplus, 1998 and 1999, were actually accomplished by borrowing from the Social Security Trust Funds. Without the borrowing of the Trust Funds those two years were actually over 200 billion in the red. Like many Clinton devotees you pass the alleged surplus around like it was gospel but it's the biggest lie in this campaign. Also, you, like many other liberals, don't understand how taxes trickle down to the bottom classes. No matter who pays taxes directly at the top, the lower classes end up paying it all, and that may also be one of the reasons they can't escape poverty.
Comment by Robert Rosencrans — October 10, 2007 @ 12:06 pm
Brent,
Dick Morris is trying to set up the democrats as the scapegoat for the trashing of the American economy by Bush and his NeoCon cohorts. Under the NeoCons America’s industries have been outsourced, Enron accounting practices have flourished, the sub-prime lending industry developed, Federal regulatory agencies were gutted, and the price to earning ratios of stock are absurd with stocks being valued far higher than even their Enron inspired earnings statements can justify.
The value of the dollar is falling, the residential housing bubble is bursting, and the Fed is barely keeping the economy afloat by cutting interest rates. It doesn’t require an Oracle or crystal ball to predict a stock market plunge given the current economic status of the U.S. economy.
Given that, Morris is simply falling back to the old republican stand-by; blame it on Clinton.
Comment by Kevin from Indiana — October 10, 2007 @ 12:29 pm
Brent,
For a change, how about some informed comment on the influence of AIPAC on Hillary and the Democratic party in general.
It seems more and more clear that our foreign policy is devoted to the interests of Israel rather that to the interests of the United States.
AIPAC seems to be the second invisible elephant in the room. No one goes against their wishes, and no one even admits their influence.
Comment by GM Pierce — October 10, 2007 @ 12:37 pm
Brent,
The most amazing thing about Mr. Morris is that anyone evens listens to him and they PAY him to do this… Amazing…
As to your aside about the man who should be running for President, I believe he will. Draft Gore groups have sprung up all of the country and in contrast to 2003 when Mr. Gore speciallly asked those working to draft him to not do so, we have heard no Sherman statement and we have not been asked to stop. In fact we have seen subtle signs of acceptance on Mr. Gore's part, we, California4Gore, got a 'wave' from him last night at Flint Center as he was leaving through the lobby and we were taking down the booth… And we have over 400 signatures on proper California nominating petitions that will be submitted, 500 signatures from each of the 53 Congressional Districts, by the filing deadline on 12/4. Al Gore will be on the California Primary Ballot on Feb. 5th, unless he specifically withdraws his name, opt-out, not opt-in… A Draft.
We will be ready, with delegate slates and we believe a candidate, a man of wisdom and stature, a man capable not only of healing the wounds and depredations of the recent years of War, neglect and avarice but also to lead our nation on a sure path to a future where America is always part of the solution, a future where America can be believed and believed in again.

Brent,
What's new about the Phalange and hatred?
Their whole existence is based on the hate object of the moment.
From refusing military service to perverted sexual practices on underage children, from moralizing about homosexuality then found to be riddled with blatant hustlers in bathroom stalls the fruitcake right exemplifies hypocrisy. And the hatred is simply self-loathing.
Not to steal a thread but anybody who thinks that the so-called "conservative christian"(no such thing as a conservative christian)is going to do anything other than vote fascist is a fool.
Like the slack-jawed, hollow-eyed zealots from some medieval nightmare these phonies will march like zombies to the polls, vote fascist and do so in the name of god.
Hatred, Brent? It's what binds them together and identifies them as Republicans.

You are obviously ill informed or a liar, so I'll drop some data on you from the Commerce Dept.'s Bureau of Economic Analysis which shows budget surplus / deficits from 01-01-1947 through 04-01-2007 which includes quarter surplus / deficit anaylsis. It will put debunt your lie that the Clinton Administration didn't have a budget surplus. At it highest, Bill had a surplus of 240.9 billion dollars on 07-01-2000. Since this comes from the government - please call it a lie. I dare you. For grins and giggles, enjoy:

Dear Brent:
Exactly what has Hillary done to deserve to be president? What has she accomplished that qualifies her?
And regarding this paragraph:
This is what happens to a party with nothing left to say that is held to the ground, under the iron fist of its most extreme and shrinking right-wing base, unable to communicate with the rest of America and unable to offer any vision or plan to lead America.
What exactly are the Democrats offering? They offer no real plans, only the same tired platitudes the American people have rejected over and over again. They have been making the same promises for 40+ years and have failed to deliver for 40+ years. Theyve have the Presidency and theyve had control of Congress over that time and still dont get much done. When will people like you realize these 2 parties are flip sides of the same coin: a wooden nickel.
Comment by David — October 10, 2007 @ 2:22 pm
The right strategy for Republicans is to love Hillary. This is also the right strategy for Democrats. This way the country will be unified under a truly gifted and inevitable leader. Dick Morris should only be allowed to speak about Fred Thompson. While this is only partially free speech, he should be grateful for anything. It's hard to imagine that when Hillary is elected he'll be allowed to pollute the airwaves and the Internet unpunished.
Comment by Igor R. — October 10, 2007 @ 2:24 pm
Mike Coleman: You're apparently an uneducated idiot. That info you posted does not show the National Debt while Clinton was President. It shows the Gross Domestic Product. Are you really that stupid? Apparently.

You really have got to be stupid; It says at the top "Net Government Savings"
are you that stupid that you don't read.

What is net government savings if it is not a surplus and or deficit. Gee are all you guys that stupid.

>>Exactly what has Hillary done to deserve to be president? What has she accomplished that qualifies her?
Her list of accomplishments is daunting for the average Republican, who has to resort to making fun of her laugh and dropping groundless insinuations about her being a lesbian to score points off of her. I am no Hillary fan, but she is the closest thing to a states[wo]man in this race.
In contrast, we could list your leading candidates' qualifications — except for McCain, the list is very slim, and threaded through with allegations of corruption, influence peddling, and shady financial dealings. Even more fun, we could really give ourselves a horselaugh and list George W. Bush's qualifications, or complete lack thereof, to run this country. Or even run the local laundromat.
Comment by Max Black — October 10, 2007 @ 3:34 pm
Last comment on this topic: nice stealth post, Igor. The biggest problem with your impersonation of a Democrat is that Democrats, much less liberals and progressives, do not advocate restrictions on freedom of speech. That would be your brown-shirted Republican fellows. Say hi to the nice man from the NSA wiretapping your phone.
Comment by Max Black — October 10, 2007 @ 3:38 pm
Mr. Budowsky, you say that Dick Morris is "no doubt a brilliant man". I don't know what definition of brilliant you're using! A brilliant person understands more than politics of destruction and win at all cost. Anyone who'd prostitute themself for the sake of a sleazy criminal administration is the exact oppposite of brilliant. I'd say Mr. Morris is sick, blind, pathological and a spiritual child.

FOX News contributor Dick Morris has another blot on his record besides toe sucking and poor prognosticating: He's also a tax delinquent. According to WTNH.com, Morris owes over $280,000 and has been on the state's list of 100 top tax delinquents for years.

Mike Coleman,
Please quit using facts to support your positions vis a vis RR.
The next thing he'll come up with is that Clinton shouldn't have been the Prez because he got the MOST votes.
I can see it all now: Somewhere in the USA, an effeminate, jackbooted RW'er, eschewing military service as usual, is holding a Democracy 101 class for young Iraqi internees via the internet, telling them that the person who gets the LEAST amount of votes gets elected, oops, I mean selected.
Their eyes glaze over.

Max, so far I only heard the Republicans trying to restrict the terrorists' freedom of speech. Please remind me who has recently supported the Fairness Doctrine? And what party does the honorable Henry What's-his-name belong to, the one that intends to listen to all the conservative commentators and compile the list of their offensive speech?

Dear Max Black:
So my question still stands. Instead of being able to answer it, you rant about rumors that I did not mention and complain about Republicans, of which I am not one, nor did I mention.
Can you not answer the question? Why must people always bring up 'well republicans this or that' when you ask basic questions about Hillary? I think the answer is pretty self evident and you cant admit it.
Comment by David — October 10, 2007 @ 4:39 pm
Russ: Thanks for posting that graph. It shows the National Debt continued to go up during the Clinton Administration. Where was the surplus? It's a myth.
Comment by Robert Rosencrans — October 10, 2007 @ 4:46 pm
From 1994 till the end of the Clinton administration the republicans controled Congress and since the power of the purse is firmly in the hands of the House of Representatives they are responsible for the debt or surplus. Something the current House needs to learn.
Comment by Kevin from Indiana — October 10, 2007 @ 5:51 pm

Your moral relatavist hypocrisy has rendered your existence meaningless.
Comment by VettaKing — October 11, 2007 @ 1:29 am
The explanation of the right Wing Hillary obsession is a toxic mix of nearly everything you would study in earning a psych degree. It is a blend of misogyny, contempt for intellect and achievment, having stayed too little at the breast, motherly affection deprivation, and getting beat up in the schoolyard by the boys who always got the girls. Heavens knows, we have some of the prime examples of this, posting here constantly.
Theirs is a personality disorder, not a political ideology.
Comment by Chris Calbi — October 11, 2007 @ 7:27 am
Mike Coleman: You're getting denser by the second Better have yourself checked out. That was for 2002. The surplus was for 2001. That was the year Bush took over in January. So the surplus you pointed out is Bush's not Clinton. Better check your facts more closely. You're in bed with the Devil.
Comment by Robert Rosencrans — October 11, 2007 @ 8:35 am
Well, I am a typical middle class guy, and I will tell you in no uncertain terms that we were much, much better under Clinton than we have been under Bush. And don't think this won't translate into a huge republican defeat in 08, because I am typical of millions upon millions of voters in the same predicament. Although I have voted both democratic and republican in the past, it will be a long time if ever I vote for another republican after George Bush and the party that enabled him. So you can argue this and you can argue that, the voters of this country know which side their bread is buttered on, and they are sick and tired of their money being spent on the black hole that is Iraq while our country has deteriorting infrastructure and a failed health care system. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.

It's not only Republicans that despise

It was the Clintons that turned the

And it was the Clintons that drove life-long democrats, such as myself, out of the party.

I won't even listen to him anymore. He has taken "Hillary Bashing" to a new level. I have come to the decision that this guy just does not like women.
