McCain's Goblins (A.B. Stoddard)

@ 4:38 pm

Remember that great moment Sen. John McCain (Ariz.) had at the GOP debate just over a week ago when he mocked Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's (D-N.Y.) appropriation for a museum commemorating Woodstock? Perhaps you heard all about it during the Fenn-Donatelli debate on the subject on HillTube. McCain even got a standing ovation after he said, "Now, my friends, I wasn't there. I'm sure it was a cultural and pharmaceutical event. I was, I was tied up at the time." His delivery was perfect, the subject made to order for the crowd, and the moment will go down in debate history.

But now the goblins have come out of the woodwork to boo-hoo on McCain's Woodstock moment, and they won't allow him a trick or a treat. When McCain cut an ad showing his ovation, Fox News Channel officials sent a cease-and-desist letter to McCain rejecting the request to use the video with the Fox News logo in the corner. McCain — once chairman of the Senate Commerce Committee and no fool — said the use of the 18-second clip in the commercial is consistent with "fair use" rights.

But you didn't think the Democrats would stand idly by, did you? Media Matter for America, which now regularly issues press releases defending Clinton, wrote today that "The Situation Room" on CNN pumped the story several times while ignoring the fact that McCain actually missed the vote to table the amendment. Sounds like Barack Obama, doesn't it?

After all he has been through, why can't McCain have a little fun?

The Hill welcomes comment from anyone and will almost always post it whether it is favorable or critical, as long as it is substantive and advances debate.

  1. This is a long story, but what I find most interesting is the identification of Media Matters as Hillary's propaganda machine. How much more of this state of affairs can people stand? This "media watchdog" funded by the Democracy Alliance, which in turn is funded by Soros is shilling for the Socialist candidate with well-known connections to Soros. This is a 1995 quote from Soros:

"I like to influence policy. I was not able to get to George Bush (Senior). But now I think I have succeeded with my influence…I do now have great access in the (Clinton) administration. There is no question about this. We actually work together as a team."

Do you Hillary supporters all want Soros on your team?

  2. John McCain needs to stop his silly Woodstock museum ad attack on Hillary Clinton.

The ad is also an attempt to put the Woodstock goers in a bad light.

It is very stupid, and shows that McCain has nothing real to say to the people.

When you look at how much money McCain's Republican Party has spent on everything, it is hard to believe that he criticizes others.

The Republicans want you to believe that Democrats are spenders, but who is really doing the spending?

    McCain is a laughing stock.
