Iowa Predictions (Armstrong Williams)

@ 1:17 pm

The Iowa caucuses are upon us, and here are my predictions.

Among Republicans and independents, Mike Huckabee will trump the other Republican candidates in Iowa. Mitt Romney, no hunter to write home about, is doing a better job of shooting himself in the foot consistently. Truth is the elusive prey for Romney, the big game hunter. Ron Paul is hard on Huckabee's heels. It's hard to tell exactly how he's doing, but this I know for sure: Paul will fare far better than the polls have shown, especially if fundraising dollars are any indication.

Barack Obama will do well in Iowa among Democrats if his people show up to the caucus. His strong crossover appeal with liberal-minded Republicans looking to jump ship, and with independents looking for some place to settle, will bode well for him. Like her husband in 1992, Hillary Clinton will lose in Iowa, and the press will vilify her for it.

Barack Obama 33
John Edwards 22
Hillary Clinton 20

Mike Huckabee 25
John McCain 20
Mitt Romney 18

The Hill welcomes comment from anyone and will almost always post it whether it is favorable or critical, as long as it is substantive and advances debate.

  1. Fred will finish third.

  2. I have been following the race. And still think a dark horse like Joe Biden or Chris Dodd could be spoilers in this race.
    My guess:
    1) John Edwards and Barack Obama tie for first place.
    2)Hillary Clinton
    3)Joe Biden
4)Chris Dodd & Bill Richardson tied.

  3. On the Democratic side it doesn't matter who gets the highest rating or caucus vote since they are virtually the same, i.e., bigger government will solve your problems, and attack the rich and corporate America, so, in fact, it would appear that the Democrats appeal to losers or people who are less motivated in life. On the Republican side you have three illegal immigration forgivers and one person who will take action against illegal immigration. It's quite possible that the issue of amnesty versus non-amnesty will decide the next election in many ways.

  4. RR;

There you go again in your delusional rant. It was your president GW Bush that has grown government bigger than ever. Before Bush, there was no Dept. of Homeland Security. We didn't use the NSA to wiretap Americans and wan't Georgie Boy in charge during 9/11. Talk about a loser. Again in 2008 you are trying to spread false rationalization for your boy's failed policies. You are and will continue to be a "liar".

  5. Read my previous post. Rosie is freaking out. He has invented his own reality and parrallel universe as a hater and warmonger.

Igor, sorry about Fred. With Rosie as an ally, I can understand why you have basically stopped your wronheaded, but intelligent informed and eloquent posts.

  6. Chris and Mike. I never said I supported Bush administration immigration or spending policies. If anyone is freaking out Chris, it's you. The truth frightens you and you have to attack it. Go ahead.

  7. Chris I haven't stopped, just took a breezer and slowed down. Thanks for the complement. And Fred did finish third.

    Comment by Igor R. — January 4, 2008 @ 1:35 am

  8. What truth is that?
