Obama's Experience: His Incredibly Successful Candidacy (Dick Morris)
The best evidence of Obama’s readiness to lead the nation is the ability with which he has run for president. After all, what is more difficult, complicated, or challenging than getting elected president? What other life experience better illustrates one’s qualification to hold the office than a manifest skill in seeking it? For anyone who has ever been elected president, the race that sent them to the White House was the single most important event in their lives and dwarfs any other experience they might have had before running.
As we have watched Obama surmount the hurdles that lay in his path, we cannot help but be impressed with his judgment. Adam Wallinsky, who served on Bobby Kennedy’s staff, once singled out good judgment as JFK’s most salient characteristic. Obama has faced so many delicate questions and issues and seems always to have the right feel for how to handle them.
At the start of the contest, he chose to avoid running as a black candidate for president and ran, instead, as a candidate who happened to have black skin. He crafted a middle course between the determined rejection of his race and its grievances of a Clarence Thomas and its emphatic embrace by a Jesse Jackson or an Al Sharpton. While Hillary invoked her gender at every turn, Obama decided to transcend his race rather than invoke it.
He began his candidacy eschewing donations from political action committees and lobbyists, preserving his purity and giving him ground on which to stand in his claim to represent a new kind of politics, rejecting the special interests. When Hillary, whose campaign decisions have been as faulty as Obama’s have been flawless, wallowed in such donations, the Illinois senator used the difference to paint her into the corner of the status quo candidate.
Beyond simply avoiding special interest money, Obama learned the lesson of Joe Trippi and the Howard Dean campaign of 2004 (even though Trippi was working for Edwards) and used his star power to develop a massive cyber-roots fundraising base, which he mobilized again and again by the click of a mouse. He realized the potential of the Internet to democratize campaign funding in a way the other candidates in general, and Hillary in particular, did not. (Mrs. Clinton invested tens of millions in direct mail instead, with all of its costs and limited returns.)
When Hillary criticized him for lacking experience, Obama brilliantly seized the opening she provided by becoming the candidate of change. He realized, as Hillary and Bill did not, that America wanted a change beyond the Bush/Clinton oscillation and grasped the fact that Hillary’s emphasis on experience would play into his hands.
And when the Clintons tried to use race to derail Obama, he countered skillfully by making Super Tuesday a referendum on tolerance and inclusivity, overtly rejecting the racial polarization that seemed to have set in after South Carolina. Underscoring his message with victories in white states like Utah, Idaho, Colorado and North Dakota, he buried the race issue.
While the Clintons went for the knockout blows of winning New York and California, Obama created a 50-state organization to win each caucus state. As Hillary’s campaign wasted half a million dollars on flowers, Obama’s husbanded his resources to put teams on the ground in the small states where his organizing paid off and brought him sufficient victories to survive the loss of the two big Super Tuesday states.
And when the Clintons went to full-time negatives, Obama carefully parsed the attacks he would answer from those he wouldn’t and disdained to engage in tit-for-tat negative campaigning, realizing that the process turned voters off more than the negatives themselves ever did.
Will he be a good president? If he is half as skillful in serving as he has been in running, he can’t miss.

Let me quote what a top-ranking military official, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff U.S. Navy Adm. Mike Mullen, said today:
"A precipitous U.S. withdrawal from Iraq not based on conditions on the ground would turn around all the gains the coalition has made in the country."
Somehow I don't think he was alluding to John McCain. Readiness to lead the nation? Dick, you can almost smell the political death of your nemesis, but hate can make you blind.

I have already posted about the international crisis Obama has caused today by his NAFTA rhetoric and prior assurances from his campaign to the Canadian ambassador that this is nothing but campaign BS, but let me just say that Obama is a national nightmare and is already becoming an international one.

What kool aid have you been drinking, Obama has not been vetted and has not had to go through any negative experiences from either the Media or the Republicans. All of that is about to change if he wins the primary's.
We must not forget Obama has baggage from Chicago, its a very stinky cheese named Rezko.
This coming Monday March 3, 2008, Rezko's trial start's in Chicago. Exciting isn't it, now we get to see and hear all about Obama's 20 year friendship with Rezko a very likely possible felon.
If the trial does not bring this relationship out of the closet, we no after the primary's were all going to understand it! We will see all the business dealings between these two fellows.

You could also look at Obama's campaign from another view. So far he hasn't had to face anything but left wing based questions, from left wing based journalists and their stations, particularly CNN and MSNBC. Has it really been that hard for him? Hillary Clinton is not so much a pushover as a pop tart. One pop with the illegal driver's licenses issue and she was toast. It demonstrated for everyone that she was not only indecisive, but perhaps too clever by half. The problem with the Democratic Party is that it does not welcome diversity, except in the lowest sense. When you reduce life to simple gender and race issues you cheat everyone out of their success and reject anything that might lead to true success. Senator Lieberman is a perfect example of that. The Democratic Party has moved so far to the left, no white man or anyone who is middle of the road need to apply. When we get into the general election, Obama will become a shadow of his former self. He has already made several stupid statements and when he is grilled on these in the first McCain/Obama debate, the majority of voters will get to see that he has driven his bus into the ditch. At this point, he hasn't had to do anything difficult, except tell people that he's for hope and change. He's smart in that way, because the gifted salesmen know you never tell the customers more than they need to hear. But let's face it, hope is what you have left when you've been defeated, and you have nothing else left. Hope is the antithesis of success. Hope is the last thing you hear before the company goes bankrupt.

Adm. Mullens is the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs and as such he doesn't get to say anything about the political process. As he rightly said, if he is given teh order to withdraw, he will follow those orders. That is how is it and that is how it should be.

Obama has no less experience than did George Washington or many other American Presdents.
All this crap about experience is BS. We see today what all that experience in Washington political circles has provided.
We do not need more of the same Washington insiders in office who have gotten us into the mess the country is in today; claiming they now have all the answers to our problems.
We need someone not afraid to follow the Constitution instead of someone who uses it for toilet tissue.

Mike, indeed he said that. As a good and loyal American soldier, he will follow any order that doesn't violate his conscience no matter how bad. Yet he is simply warning that what Sen. Obama has consistently promoted as the right strategy regardless of the reality on the ground will negate all the gains so far. Sen. Obama will be a ruinous commander in chief, although he may be already planning to violate his promises just like his disasterous rhetoric on NAFTA that has already created an international incident and threatened America's most reliable oil supply.

Dick, I agree with the vetting but I will tell you this from an African american viewpoint, if Hillary Clinton steals this nomination with all the nasty inneundo, and nasty tricks, she will not win the white house..you and I both know that the Blacks and most notedly the white men who support Obama, will not vote for her if she is perceived as doing anything to get the crown. Hillary needs the black vote and the white men vote or she will not win the white house and the democratic party is gong to blame her and Bill for it..Stay tuned and see if my prognostication does not bear fruit.I know a lot of blacks now who are advocating that she is close to alienating us from her, minus the few blacks who adore her and her poitical friends who need her and all the women who think that she is going to do great things for them if she becomes president..watch the promises..SHE IS NOT HER HUSBAND…

Obama’s efforts to connect to the Republican Party, specifically Bush, and Dick Cheney, of the Halliburton Company, dates back to the Presidents Grandfather, Prescott Bush, and indeed Cheney was once an executive officer of Halliburton.
The American military pounds Iraq with Artillary, bombs, and the like, destroying large sections of cities, and infra-structures, then Halliburton comes in to rebuild. Halliburton and Halliburton associated companies have raked in ten’s of billions.
Obama is just like the BIG HALIBURTAN. Haliburton has contracted to build detention centers in the U.S. similiar to the one in Quantanammo Bay, Cuba. Halliburton does nothing to earn the Two Dollars for each meal an American Serviceman in Iraq eats.

Halliburton was scheduled to take control of the Dubai Ports in The United Arab Emiirate. The deal was canceled when Bush was unable to affect the transfer of the American Ports.

This was the basis for Barack and Michelle's claim, that he was a community activist on the South and East Side of Chicago.
