Clinton Trying to Chump Obama (Armstrong Williams)

@ 10:07 am

Have you noticed former President Bill Clinton running around the country now saying Clinton-Obama would be an unbeatable ticket? As soon as Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) achieves a small victory the campaign is trying to eliminate the competition in what might otherwise appear to be a magnanimous gesture.

Do the Clintons think us all buffoons? Is their ploy not obvious? The race is definitely not over; in fact, not long ago commentators were talking about Clinton dropping out of the race, and now she's going to head a ticket with her competitor taking the bottom rung?

This ploy is perfidious for two reasons: It gives the impression that Clinton is winning by a significant margin and that she is magnanimous, reaching out to her competitor.

Now, when Obama refuses, two things happen for the Clinton campaign: They can say they offered, while indicating that Obama was ungrateful.

It will be interesting to see if this offer stands if Clinton actually wins the nomination. It may, because there are a lot of votes that Obama has gotten, as the former president said, that could easily be lost if Obama isn't going to be elected. It is a good partnership for Clinton. However, this is just the opinion of a political pundit. When asked about the idea of being the VP on a Clinton-Obama ticket, Obama called the notion "premature," saying he has won twice as many states as Clinton and a greater share of the popular vote, and he believes he can maintain a delegate lead.

"You won't see me as a vice presidential candidate, you know, I'm running for president," said Obama.

Not only has Obama won more states, but he has also raised more money. The notion is almost insulting, and anyone outside of the Clinton camp can see that. However, the liberal media, with The New York Times leading the way, will begin to romanticize about this dream ticket, for deep down, that's what they all would like to see happen (and in the process cast John McCain as old and out of touch and demonize him at the behest of this dream Clinton-Obama ticket).

Wow, those Clintons and their mainstream media PR machine will stop at nothing!

  2. But now that's it's OK to tell the truth about Obama, this is a new race. It's still not OK to tell the truth about Hillary, after all the trial and tribulations, after all where is the Hsu story?

  3. Great commentary there!

I would have just added…why would Hillary want a VP whom she doesn't believe is qualified to be Commander-in-Chief? I know she thinks the American people are stupid…but that is just too much!

  4. Has anyone ask why so many Muslims on the internet have been asking other Muslims around the world to send Obama $200.00 or less. Is this legal?

Obama: 'If I am not ready, how is it that you think I should be such a great vice president?'

My colleague Carrie Budoff Brown e-mails from Columbus, Miss., with Obama's response to the Clintons' flotation of the notion that he could be her veep: scorn.

COLUMBUS, Miss — Sen. Barack Obama delivered an animated rebuke today of suggestions from the Clintons in recent days that he could run as her vice president.

“Now first of all with all due respect, with all due respect," he said here during a town hall meeting. "I won twice as many states as Sen. Clinton. I won more of the popular vote than Sen. Clinton. I have more delegates than Sen. Clinton. So I don’t’ know how someone in second place can offer the vice presidency to someone in first place. If I was in second place I could understand but I am in first place right now.

He referenced comments from Bill Clinton in 1992 that his “most important criteria” for vice president was that person must be ready to be commander in chief.

“They have been spending the last two or three weeks” arguing that he is not ready to be commander in chief, Obama said.

“I don’t understand. If I am not ready, how is it that you think I should be such a great vice president?” Obama asked the crowd, which gave him a standing ovation during his defense. “I don’t understand.”

“You can’t say he is not ready on day one, then you want him to be your vice president,” Obama continued. “I just want everybody to absolutely clear: I am not running for vice president. I am running to be president of the United States of America.”

Obama was responding to comments from Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson on a conference call earlier today, in which he suggested that Obama could pass the "threshold" and become commander in chief material this summer.

"Senator Clinton will not choose any candidate who has not at the time of choosing passed the national security threshold. But we have a long way to go until Denver, and it's not something she's prepared to rule out at this point," he said.

  7. Well the President of OPEC issued a thinly veiled threat essentially saying that the price of oil will remain high until the next US President is elected, and then maybe, just maybe, if the economic policy changes (read a Democrat is elected) the prices will come down. Who do you think our Middle Eastern friends want elected? He who's middle name must not be said or McCain?

There are several sites located in the Middle East. Many are in Egypt and some in several other countries. I translated the sites using Babylon.
No, I have not been contacted. I am just wondering what is really going on. I thought it was illegal to take money from other countries for a campaign.
