Hillary's Other Fabrication (Dick Morris)
By Dick Morris and Eileen McGann
Now that Hillary has been nailed in an outright fabrication of her role in Bosnia, it is time to remind ourselves of another, even more galling, fantasy that Hillary tried to sell to voters.
After Sept. 11, Hillary had a problem. New Yorkers were desperately focused on their own need for protection and they were saddled with a senator who was not one of them — an Arkansan, or was it a Chicagoan?
Interviewed on the “Today Show” one week after Sept. 11, she spun an elaborate yarn. The kindest thing we could say was that it was a fantasy. Or a fabrication.
She said that Chelsea was jogging around the World Trade Center on Sept. 11 and happened to duck into a coffee shop when the airplanes hit. She said that this move saved Chelsea's life. But Chelsea told Talk magazine that she was in a friend's apartment four miles from ground zero when the first plane hit. Her friend called her, waking her up, and told her to turn on the TV. On television, she saw the second plane hit, disproving Hillary's claim that "she heard the plane hit. She heard it. She did."
So why did Hillary make up the story about Chelsea? Most likely to was because her co-senator (and implicit rival for the voters’ affection), a real New Yorker, Charles Schumer (D), spoke of his daughter, who attended Stuyvesant High School, located next to the Trade Center, being at real risk on Sept. 11. Hillary needed to make herself part of the scene.
She invented the entire story on national television, the “Today Show,” and didn't blink an eye.
Her fabrication on the “Today Show” was no unique foray. It is her standard M.O. It gives us pause in evaluating all of her stories and calls into question her entire credibility.

And how did she get to be considered one of the most intelligent highly qualified women in the world? The drive-by media has, is and will always aid and abet her in her lies. That is what has propped her up so far, and the only reason they have turned on her, is because they like Obama better.

Although this is yet another example of one of the many lies Hillary has told, I wonder why the mainstream media hasn't made more of her lie concerning the peace negotiations in Ireland? In that instance, you had one of the actualy participants in the negotiations (a Nobel Prize winner, no less) stating that Hillary had nothing to do with the negotiations. So why is she getting a free pass on that lie? But, on a sad note (at least for the Democrats), this just shows that Hillary's Foreign Policy experience is as bad as Obama's. Some choice the Democrats have!

Hillary lied? The sun rose? Sir Edmund Hillary climbed the Everest after the Hillary in question was born? It's amazing what the world is coming too, just amazing.
By the way, Sir Edmund passed away in January. Who is there to contradict the "fact" that he climbed the damn mountain in 1946 and personally named Baby Rodham after himself?

[…] As more examples bubble up about other Hillary fabrications, such as this one about Chelsea on 9/11, some are beginning to wonder if Bill Safire was right that she is a congenital liar. […]

Although I'm not a Clinton supporter, this post would be quite damning if it were true.
Mr. Morris claims that Sen. Clinton made false statements about her daughter Chelsea on the Today show a week following 9/11.
I can not find a record of this show anywhere.
In fact, there is no record anywhere of Mrs. Clinton appearing on the Today Show to talk about Chelsea Clinton during the months after September 11, 2001.
It would be helpful if Mr. Morris could verify his accusation by pointing to the date that Mrs. Clinton appeared on the Today Show and made these remarks, or refer skeptical readers to a transcript of this show.
Thank you. A. Brown

Well, my my my. Another Hillary fib. Dick, you must have saved this up for years.

It is all very embarrassing to the US; worldwide, that HIllary and McCain are supported in mass numbers.
C'mon USA, dont be predictable.
I've followed the whole electoral process so far and all I can say is: It's infuriating.
Hillary, you're the most annoying woman I've ever had the displeasure of reading about, how women around the country are voting in huge numbers is being seen as advancing womens causes I'll never know.
McCain is just past it and frankly - scary.

This is unbelievable. Clinton must drop out now.

The most troubling part of this, I think, is the "why" of it. We all know that politicians can parse words and spin with the best of them, but an outright and utter fabrication over something so inconsequential as Chelsea's physical proximity to the WYC on 9/11 is frightening. If she is this fast and lose with the truth over such trivial matters, what can we expect when she's dealing with something that actually matters?

That's quite a stretch, Dick. She never said that coffee saved Chelsea's life, and she didn't say that she was jogging. Sept. 11 was a gorgeous day, and Hillary said that Chelsea was planning to go for a jog at Battery Park. Because that's what people do on nice days in NY.
And the Talk Magazine article you refer to, but can't bother to actually check yourself, says that Chelsea was in Union Square. That's 2 miles away, not 4. It goes on to say that "Chelsea Clinton was downtown in line at a pay phone when she heard the rumble of the second tower collapsing."
Rather amusing that you're claiming that Hillary's the one to stretch the truth.

This is not the end of it. Once her tax returns are released, we'll find out why Norman Hsu and the all the other indicted friends did to gain influence. Hillary will do whatever is necessary to become president. Is that the person you want in the White House? Scary.

maybe this is why chelsea won't grant interviews…fear of tripping her mother up?

Dick - your version of events is just plain not true and there is no way that you are not aware of that. Anyone reading this should research it. The information is easy to find.

I want video of this Today show episode. People are debunking this article using "Dateline" which doesn't do me any good at all.

This woman seems to lie at the drop of a hat. If she will do so, so quickly, so unreservedly now then we can expect no different if she was elected. She needs to be nationally shunned. To be called out at every opportunity and told in no uncertain terms
"Madam, you did not miss-speak, you lied. You are therefore a liar"
Then you must turn to Obama and say "Sir, you ally yourself with vitriolic racists and then lie about knowing what they say. You sir are a liar."
Turning to McCain you say "Sir, you may be the best of the three but you think war is a good idea. You sir are a fool."
And I guess at this point you call off the current electoral process. State that you are ashamed to be faced with the three worst candidates you could find and instead do an entire do-over for the system.
Or just burn down your parliaments and live under total local government until someone can sort it out.

This is why I cannot vote for Hillary - she will do or say anything to get elected. Although we don't need someone who stands firm in blatantly erroneous positions like Bush II, we don't need a dirty politician like this, either.

[…] Not true. Pretty much not true at all Chelsea Clinton said herself that she was in an apartment four miles away from Ground Zero and a friend called her to wake her up after the first strike. (I presume she was uptown rather than somewhere more proletarian like, say, Newark or Staten Island.) You'll recall that there was something like ten to fifteen minutes time between the first strike and the second. She woke up at about the same time I did that morning, after the first strike and watching the second one live on TV. […]

Dick: I'd suggest that you should be ashamed of yourself, but I know that would be a waste of keystrokes. I'm not a democrat, and I'm certainly no Hillary fan. I am, however, a fan of honesty. The record plainly states that Hillary never implied that Chelsea was in danger. To imply otherwise is the worst kind of dishonest political hackery. This tripe was cooked up years ago by Tom Kuiper and propagated by the likes of Bay Buchanan: fourth rate citizens at best. It was a deliberate and egregious falsehood then, and it still is now. Even if you believe that keeping Hillary out of office is a well-intentioned goal, you must still know that peddling this stuff is just plain bad for the American people.

Momo-
Hillary never appeared on "Today"; the comments were made on "Dateline".
I guess Mr. Morris misspoke…
