RIP, Tony Snow (Brent Budowsky)

@ 3:20 pm

Washington has lost a good man, a loyal ally, a worthy adversary, a true gentleman and more than a touch of class with the passing away of Tony Snow.

Tony Snow and I probably never supported the same candidate, and almost always took the opposite sides on matters of high policy and national politics. Yet my respect for him was always boundless and my sadness in learning of his passing is genuine and deep.

Tony Snow was a man of ideas and passions and commitment to what he believed, and a man of decency and civility in his personal and professional lives. Reporters and political professionals who dealt with him share an almost universal admiration for Tony Snow, whether they agreed with him or not.

Tony Snow will be missed, and those who knew and loved him might find some solace in the good will he generated, in whatever endeavors he chose to pursue. Condolences to his family and close friends, and farewell to a good man who will indeed be missed.

The Hill welcomes comment from anyone and will almost always post it whether it is favorable or critical, as long as it is substantive and advances debate.

  1. Here's hoping that your liberal henchmen who swarm around here don't show their true colors by making deragatory comments about Tony Snow.

  2. I will say this, that I kind of wish I had known him. Certainly he didn't stay in that defiled White House extremely long, and for all I know he may have left for the sake of decency.

  3. Brent, thank you for your kind words remembering Tony Snow. It's a big loss for everyone. I hope that next time you plan to launch a groundless attack on Republicans like the ones about McCain letting bin Laden escape, or Group of Eight "impeaching President Bush", and other non-sense you ask yourself whether Tony Snow would get down into the mud in smearing Democratic opponents like that. Then, follow your conscience despite what your orders from "above" are.

  4. Tony seemed like a good man outside of the political arena and a good family man also. Unfortunately, he went to his grave supporting the worst administration in the history of the U.S. What was he thinking!? Rest in peace Tony and may God forgive you for your support for Bush and the blood on his hands.

  5. What did Tony Snow know about 9/11 and Iraq for oil and when did he know it. He may have been kept in the dark, but I doubt it.

Bush/Greenspan financed the Iraq War with liar loans. They should be prosecuted. What did Snow know?
