The Great Pundit Cable Republican PUMA Fraud (Brent Budowsky)
Yes, indeed, one of the pundits with the latest "Hillary supporters will vote Republican" words admitted she was repeating the GOP talking points, which indeed she was, along with the jib-jab of the cable talkies and the flim-flam of the so-called experts who treat smears as truth and talking points as news.
The "Hillary supporters will vote Republican" myth is a fraud, a figment of the imagination of Fox News, a fantasy of the Hillary-obsessed pundit class, and a mirage that will be shattered when the PUMA Republicans are revealed for the fraud they are and more than 90 percent of the Hillary supporters will vote against more war, against overturning Roe v. Wade and against the economic royalism of the oil company party led by John McCain, who opposes equal pay for women while he would privatize Social Security for the elderly.
The pundits chortled when a Gallup poll showed McCain pulling ahead, but they are silent when the next Gallup poll showed Barack back on top.
Here's the catch. When CNN dredged up that African-American Hillary delegate saying she would give Barack Obama two months to prove his worth to her, that woman will end up voting for Obama and is counted in the bogus math of the alleged "Hillary supporters will vote for McCain.” In fact, the polls that show Obama slightly ahead count NONE of those alleged "Hillary voters" as Obama voters when in truth MOST of them will be.
In short, they are already being counted AGAINST Barack, yet when there is movement in their numbers, it will be TO Barack.
Let’s be clear. This convention has not dealt with economic or energy issues, as it should have. Democrats are in the fight of their lives. Make no mistake about that.
But make no mistake about this, either. No matter how many times the pundits repeat the Republican talking points, no matter how much the cable talkies are obsessed with Hillary, no matter how much propaganda is spread by the Republicans and repeated on the cables as news or by the pundits as wisdom, the truth is this …
The PUMAs are nothing but a fraud who speak for no one except a handful of people and Republicans who support them, promote them, and try to sell them to the press as they once sold Mr. Chalabi as the future of Iraqi democracy and once sold Jack Abramoff as the go-to power guy in Washington.
It is fraud, it is a sham, it is a myth — and don’t believe anyone who tells you otherwise.

I repeat what I commented on another post I

donated money (a significant amount) to one

attended by other Republicans. I cant use

This statement is appalling about the black lady interviewed by CNN. How does anyone know "that woman will end up voting for Obama"? Because she's black? Or, because of Barack's brown shirts thugs? Night of long knives?
Should we be worried about her physical safety as she takes a cab to Denver airport?

I guess that beats an unrepentent terrorist donating money and holding a fundraiser to launch Barack Obama's political career. Republican's for PUMAs, terrorists for Obama, just your average political theater.

I will admit I am not clear on how the delegate process worked tonight, however watching state by state issue their votes a total of 1549 votes went to Obama and 341 votes to HRC. CA passed, IL passed, NM yielded to IL and then IL yielded to NY at which time HRC asked for acclimation. The remaining states counts were not given. Up till Hillary requested acclimation she had 20% of the delegate votes. I believe for the sake of party solidarity HRC's delegate went to Obama.
This is significant.
So, let us see what happens. Perhaps the PUMA's are underestimating their guesses.

There is one thing funny in this.
In an attempt to turn the social security trust fund over to Wall Street the republicans have spent millions of dollars to tell me exactly what I have paid into social security over the years.
If they succeed in "privatisation" I want a check in that amount. As a matter of fact I will sue to be refunded the money I have paid in, along with probably one hundred million other people.
Oh, I'm self-employed. Put that money in the hands of Wall Street and I'll never pay another dime.
John McCain is unqulified to be a Senator just as he was unqualified to be a pilot.
Comment by Jim — August 27, 2008 @ 7:18 pm
I agree with you that the phenomenon of Hillary-for-McCain supporters is completely trumped and overrated. So several hundred naysayers protested because Hillary lost? Big deal. Given that both Obama and Clinton have similar platforms and plans to execute those policies, it goes without saying that anyone willing to vote against his/her own principles operates on spite and not logic anyway.
I'll be curious to see if these same pundits will offer non-stop coverage and analysis of Ron Paul's 10,000-seat-sold-out-rally to boycott the Republican Convention next week. Can we expect to hear repeatedly how broken beyond repair the Republican machine has become? Can we expect them to hang on to Ron Paul's every last move in case he wrinkles his nose when McCain's name is mentioned? It only seems fair to offer quality time to a much larger, much more organized movement than the Hillary-first folks have going on.

It is just Not True that convention did not deal with Economic and other solutions, a total myth fed by the MSM.
"Watch C-SPAN for convention coverage and get yourself psychically cleared. Stop watching TV. The MSM is desperately working to program us morning noon and night. And creating despair amongst those who are openly hopeful about 2008 politics is very easy. Just bust the bubble that gives you room to believe that change can happen and the rest falls away. Including your own sense of self-empowerment. Believe it.”

Brent, all they do all day long on cable tv and AM radio is repeat Rove-approved talking points. You could turn on the radio at this very moment and hear the newest one. Perception management and control of the public mind is absolutely necessary for the construction of fascist oligarchial corporate dictatorship.
Whoever controls the media controls the country. Period.
The mother of all media scandals broke less than six months ago and it got scant attention, even from the progressive blogosphere. And I bet at first thought it doesn't even come to your mind.
Every major media outlet, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN put retired generals on the air without telling their audience that they were prepped with talking points by the Pentagon and had ties to Defense Contractors. These Generals all green-lighted the War in Iraq. It had to be fought they told us. If these wise Generals said War was necessary how could the public refute their wisdom?
In short, every major media outlet conducted psy-ops on the American Public (federal crime) to help sell an illegal war to a gullible public.
The broadcasting licenses of every major media should've been instantly revoked and fines in the tens of billions of dollars levied. Remember, Nuremberg told us that the Propagandists are WAR CRIMINALS just as those who execute the war. Yes, that includes Brian Williams, Katie Couric and Wolf Blitzer and many more.
So what has happened as a result of this, the largest media scandal in history? Absolutely nothing. Except these same media were handed spectrum in the new digital televsion signal set to be used exclusively in early 2009. These signals are worth hundreds of billions of dollars. And they were GIVEN to these unscrupulous WAR CRIMINALS without auction or public debate.
I repeat: Whoever controls the media controls the country. Period.
Your PUMA scandal pales in comparison.
Jeff Cohen sums it up nicely:

The Bush's helped Saudis escape the country after 9/11 when all other air traffic had been grounded and before they had been thoroughly questioned.
Bush's grandfather helped Hitler's war machine obtain finances even AFTER the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Bush's grandfather also plotted to overthrow the government of President Roosevelt.

Brent,
Since you keep bringing this up lets lay out ALL the facts..
Remember the Keating 5 was 4 Democrats and one Republican. The ethics committee found much more wrong doing by three of the Democrats. Wasn't it only McCain who testified in the civil lawsuit?
"He got his fanny slapped…"
Really here is the rulings on each of the five.(Democrat controlled Senate).
The Senate Ethics Committee ruled that Cranston had acted improperly by interfering with the investigation by the FHLBB.[16] He had received more than a million dollars from Keating, had done more arm-twisting than the other Senators on Keating's behalf, and was the only Senator officially rebuked by the Senate in this matter.
The Senate Ethics Committee ruled that Riegle and DeConcini had acted improperly by interfering with the investigation by the FHLBB.
The Senate Ethics Committee ruled that the involvement of Glenn in the scheme was minimal, and the charges against him were dropped.[16] He was only criticized by the Committee for "poor judgment."[19]
The Ethics Committee ruled that the involvement of McCain in the scheme was also minimal, and he too was cleared of all charges against him.[17][16] McCain was criticized by the Committee for exercising "poor judgment" when he met with the federal regulators on Keating's behalf.[6] The report also said that McCain's "actions were not improper nor attended with gross negligence and did not reach the level of requiring institutional action against him….Senator McCain has violated no law of the United States or specific Rule of the United States Senate
Geez Brent you are easy to correct..
Comment by Jon Pemberton — August 28, 2008 @ 10:58 am
Jon, you're analysis of Keating 5 is like
Dick Cheney's analysis of Iraq intelligence.
All of them should be criticized, but McCain
is the one running for president, and if you
do your research, and have the integrity and
objectivity to report the truth, McCain was
one of the worst of the Keating 5 offenders.
Though of course you guys dont care about

Yeah you show em…

Since we seem to be recycling this thanks again Jon Pemberton for enlightening us with the facts, still lost on Brent. The truth matters not to the elitists. They selectively block out what doesn't fit their story.
And the Keating 5 analogy sort of reminds one of Hillary Clinton's Whitewater Scandal and her dealings with superwealthy, supercorrupt supercrook operators for whom she acted unethically hiding behind her Law Firm. And then of course of a White House lawyer and a longtime friend of President Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton being found dead in the park. Not the first or last death coincidentally associated with crossing the Clintons. By the way she too was running for President and will be again in four more years as well become evident on November 5th, 2008. Move On and their far left backers gave you a loosing horse, attractive, but not up to the looming race. When you get on his heels, he just can't close the deal. History repeats.

Here is a link to the latest polls. The most damaging one for Obama is the Gallup poll which shows 9% undecided. That's bad news for Barack because undecided is actually a code term for McCain.

wewillnotbeneoconned, "the Bin Ladens" are not "Osama bin Laden". Your attempt to connect either of the two Presidents with terrorists is just a smear. Neither of them has any terrorist friends. You can write whatever you want about their ancestors, the relatives of their aquaintances, etc, and yet neither of them has ever been appointed by a terrorist to a board of a foundation or had their career launched at a terrorist's house or even invited one to a Thanksgiving dinner at their house.

when I first heard the word PUMA. I though it was my thing.
I have been pretty disgusted with what passes for "party unity". It pretty much seemed to me that it was Barack Obama selling out to Hillary and the DLC as the price for getting elected.
When he picked Biden as VP, that seemed to wrap up my theory in a pretty red ribbon.
And my reaction to that is "party unity, my ass!"
Now I find that the acronym is being used to represent die-hard Hillary fans.
I like my version better.
Comment by gmpierce — August 28, 2008 @ 9:57 pm
Hillary did a wonderful job! If she had started out this way she would of won Iowa, but she was stuck on the old ways of dirty politics while Obama refused to play the same game and hit her back. Instead he respected her and challenged her on the issues. Maybe all of this was meant to be so the democrats can wake up, fight back and wean out all the Dems, including the female ones who are bias at heart. Could Hillary have succeeded with old government in place? Would she have ended up as a great President? Or would she have simply band aid a few crisis only to see history repeat itself over and over again after she left?
The Democratic party is no longer the party of the KKK. Just like many A. Am who say that they took the word N back to empower themselves, the A. Am and everyone else who is against bigotry has taken the Democratic party and reformed it into the party of the people for the people. How sweet it is! Hillary is set for life in politics no matter what she says from now on. She will become the first female president but after Obama clears all the red tape BS the reps and dems created and show them people can work together and get things started in our lifetime. The old cancerous idea of impossibility is no longer lingering in the minds of the poor, the worker, and the filthy rich who have to adjust and understand profit does not mean profit greed and is no longer a Christian value.
The Republican Party is the party of fear, greed, falsehood, for the wealthy, survival of the fittest, the well connected, the US and THEM, Christian God's Warriors vs true Jesus's followers, bigotry, and government and citizen neglect. They are the pan for PLUTOCRACY.
The Democrats are rising once again to what is the most well crafted comeback in history. They are for all the people - rich or poor, any party, religion, ethnicity and sexual preference you may have. They believe every individual family has a right to choose any religion without harassment, and to privately decide what is best for the family when it comes to rape and the life of the mother or child. These are choices that should never be made by a stranger or one religious body.
With Obama, his administration, and the Democrats we will enter a new era and live up to the promise of what America should be! As of last night Lady Liberty is beaming in New York's harbor knowing her hard work was not in vain and her meaning - lives on.
