Burris Already Made Down Payment on His Senate Seat (Dick Morris)
Don't think that Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) has waived the pay-to-play requirement for appointment to the Senate seat.
NewsMax.com reports that Burris has already donated more than $15,000 to Blago's campaigns. He's made his down payment already!
And Burris got a big, fat state contract in return! His consulting firm was awarded a $300,000 contract from the Illinois State Department of Transportation to locate minority contractors to participate in the state's affirmative action program to work on road projects.
Burris doesn't have to do a quid pro quo with Blagojevich. He's got a charge account going!

The Borgen Project has informative statistics on addressing global poverty.
$30 billion ends world hunger
$550 billion is the US Defense budget
This organization has the ability, resources, and policy-makers to suppress the threat of global poverty by enacting legislation here in the US, which is tied to the United Nation's Millennium Development Goals. Please support organizations such as The Borgen Project so that we may rid the world of poverty.

#1. Your post is most thoughtful. In a world of worms spouting garbage, like this column, I hope under Obama eventually we stabilize ourselves and help end world poverty. Bill Gates could easily end world poverty with just his own money; the same with Mike Bloomberg, but we'll never see that. We support the Borgen Project.

What nonsense. The U.S. alone has spent over trillion dollars to reduce poverty over the last 40 years and has barely made a dent in those levels. You can't change human behavior with money alone.

#3 You change in with money and education; it's fairly simple.

Why don't we focus on assuring safety, prosperity and liberty for Americans and let others either work harder to feed their families, or go on a little diet once in a while.

#4: They've spent trillions on the school systems too. In case you didn't notice it, the dropout rate in some cities is close to 70%.
